SUMMARY:"Heroes at the Falls" Book Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, October 4th at 2:30 PM in the Riverside Visitors Center for a talk by Chuck Parrish on the history of the United States Life Saving Service at Louisville\, based on the book he co-authored and edited\, entitled Heroes at the Falls:  Louisville Lifesavers. \nFrom 1880 to 1915\, the life saving crew based at Louisville’s Station #10 courageously performed dangerous rescues at the treacherous Falls of the Ohio. The crew had the distinction of serving aboard the only Federal life saving station on the inland waterways of America. Mr. Parrish\, a retired historian with the Corps of Engineers\, Louisville District\, will share their stories — and images — during this free presentation. \nThe event is free\, but space is limited so RSVPs are encouraged. Call 502/935-6809 to reserve your seating.

SUMMARY:Family Farm & Forage Day--Cancellation due to Inclement Weather
DESCRIPTION:Hello everyone\, \nIt’s with no small amount of regret that we must announce the cancellation of Saturday’s Family Farm and Forage Day at Riverside\, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing. \nIf you live in the Ohio Valley\, you know to expect summertime showers and thunderstorms as almost a daily occurrence. Saturday’s event\, thanks to the remnants of Tropical Storm Bill\, is a different story. \nThe forecasters are in agreement that what we’ll have on Saturday is an all-day rain. As we’ve invited presenters from across the state of Kentucky to participate in this\, our inaugural event\, it’s a lot to expect them to come and spend their time in those conditions. \nThe good news is we’ve already set a date for next year. Family Farm and Forage Day will return on Saturday\, June 18\, 2016. With an extra year to plan\, our goal is to make it bigger and better! \nWe apologize for the inconvenience. \nOur next event is the popular Ice Cream Social on July 12 – see you there! \nYour Friends at Riverside\, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing
